Will we work more in group training in the new year, at the side of a personal trainer or at free weights? Yanre Fitness reveals what will be popular in 2021 in terms of fitness, according to an expert survey.

The ” Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends ” was published for the 14th time . This is based on a worldwide survey of experts by US sports universities and associations on the subject of fitness trends. Wearables were able to defend their top position, and the long-running hit HIIT went up one place again.

#1: Wearables

It is also known as “Wearable Technology”. Fitness gadgets such as sports watches, pedometers , heart rate monitors or glasses with an integrated GPS device land in the trends ranking after 3rd place in 2018 and 1st place in the previous year for 2021 again. The market, in which companies like Apple, Misfit, Garmin, Samsung, Basis and Jawbone have put a lot of research in recent years, dominates the fitness trends 2021.

#2: HIIT

HIIT (high-intensity interval training) still took first place in the ranking in 2018, slipped to the “bronze rank” last year and climbed back to second place this year. Interesting: HIIT has been in the top 5 since 2014! According to those responsible for the study, since 2008 HIIT has been a popular and effective way of achieving rapid fitness success with professionals, such as personal trainers and competitive athletes. Despite the warning of increasing risk of injury, HIIT has now reached gyms around the world – and is extremely popular.
