How to Perform 45 Degree Leg Press

Follow the steps below for the best position and workout performance:-

Step 1

Choose the appropriate weight and distribute it evenly on both sides of the leg press. Make sure the weights are balanced on both sides. If you are a beginner, remember to choose weights that suit your strength.

Step 2

Ensure that the padded back and glutes supports are in the right position before you sit on the leg press.

Step 3

When you confirm that everything is in position, sit on the leg press such that your glutes, back and head rests comfortably on the padded supports.

Step 4

Place your feet on the footplate. The distance between your feet should be shoulder-width apart and your heels flat. Your toes should be pointed forward and your legs should form a 90 degrees angle at the knees.

Step 5

Before you start pushing the platform, grasp the assist handles to gain proper support.

Step 6

To start the upward movement, push the platform away in a slow and controlled manner until you fully extend your knees. Your legs should be straight at this point. Pause at the top of the movement.

Step 7

To start the downward movement, gradually bend the knees to allow the footplate to go back to the initial position.

Do 4-5 sets of 8-12 reps.

Note:

  • Depending on your preference, you can choose to breathe in during the downward movement and breathe out during the upward movement, or breathe after every rep.
  • Also note that during the movements, your bottom and back should be flat on the padded support.

Common Mistakes While Doing Leg Press
